Avec tout le travail pour ajouter les pages et galerie d'esquisses de modèles, j'en suis presque venu à oublier que j'avais un tableau que j'ai travaillé jeudi soir, Lonneke, faudrait tout-de-même pas que je l'oublie....donc voici la photo prise jeudi soir avant d'aller au dodo....je l'ai retravaillé aujourd'hui, avec ce tableau il me faut affronter mes faiblesses les plus flagrantes en dessin....les mains, et encore plus les oreilles, le nez, les lèvres, enfin tout ce qui fait un portrait..., des parties qu'on a tendance à esquiver, en les cachant ou les laissant dans l'ombre, ici je me lance en espérant que le résultat sera satisfaisant...pour le moment, beaucoup de travail...

With all the work yesterday to set up pages and gallery for my life model sketches, not counting the time to photograph, arrange the photos in photoshop and load them on my sites, I almost lost track of a painting worked on thursday night, Lonneke, so here where she was standing thursday, before calling it a night....I already reworked this painting today, the photo will come tomorrow, but lets say that with this painting I do have to tackle somewhat of a few weakness in my painting ability...Hands, mouth, nose, and ears...I really struggle with these, eventually I will get to really know how to paint them, zooming on the pic surely aid....but there is still a lot of work to do...

Bon, semble que je ne peux me décider à mettre de côté ce tableau, Cindy continue à m'accaparer, en plus elles sont deux...je suis perdu...:), aujourd'hui c'est le côté 'plus échevelé', terme qui s'applique peu à mon crane dégarni..., qui l'emporte, donc le tableau prend de nouveau une allure 'plus expressive', la photo, qui peut-être saura mieux que mes mots exprimer ce que je veux dire...

Well, seems like I just cannot leave that painting along, I guess Cindy has got me, and there two of them...help!...ok painting wise, today it is the wilder painter that's there, so it does take another direction, not quite different, and since I just cannot find the words to describe it, either in french or english, than maybe I should just let that picture trying to tell the story...

Finalement, réussi à m'arracher, de peine et de misère, je dois l'admettre pour passer à un autre tableau...peut-être était-ce la raison que je restais accroché, celui-ci je l'aime beaucoup et il m'a causé tant de problèmes jusqu'à date, là je crois que je sais finalement où je veux l'amener...dire que voilà deux ans il était là....

Finally got away from Cindy, both of them, to fall into Lonneke and her shades, or ghostly reflections, maybe that was why I was hung up on the previous one...:D, I do like that painting, finally I think I know where I want to take it, but there is much left to do, and I'v been working on this one for so long....at one point it was like that...two years ago...

Mais comme il m'arrive souvent, j'ai décidé de le pousser un peu plus loin, un jour je vous montrerai toute l'histoire de ce tableau, commencé en 2003...par contre je ne pourrai montrer des photos du début, crash d'ordi et dans ce temps là, je n'avais pas vraiment de bon système de sauvegarde...en attendant voici la version la plus précédente, ce soir, mais probablement plus demain je vous présenterai la toute dernière version

But as it happen often, I decided that I wasn't please with it and that I could improve it...one day I will put up  the whole story, actually the sldeshow is on this painting's page...let's just say it started in 2003, but the first pictures were lost in a computer crash...no safe backup method at that time, I've learned....but for now here's the previous version, tonight but probably more like tomorrow I will post an update...

Un peu de pastel, la suite du port d'Hambourg, avant de passer à l'acrylique et Cindy...Évidemment aussi passé quelques heures à mettre à jour/améliorer...peut-être mes sites....les liens sont là, je vous laisse le soin de visiter, et jeter un coup d'oeil...
A bit of pastel, a follow up on Hamburg's port, before doing a bit of acrylic painting and Cindy..and of course spent a few hours updating my sites, adding new pages and many more...as they say in those adds....links are on the page, if you feel like taking a tour, I think it is worth the time...

Petit à côté technique...même après plusieurs jours, les couleurs sur la palette 'liquide' étaient utilisables, et les mélanges de médiums et autre additifs que j'avais préparé en plus grande quantité et mis au réfrigérateur étaient aussi en bon état, pas une grande révolution, mais c'est bien de savoir que c'est là, prêt à être utiliser...quant au tableau, un peu indécis quant au fond, je le trouve trop foncé, on verra...

A bit of technical bits, even after many days, the colors were still usable on the stay-wet palette, and the medium and additives, mixed a few days ago, kept wet in the fridge, not much of a discovery, but it is nice to know, that it is there, ready to be used...as ofr the painting itself, I don't know, not sure I want the background to be so dark, so it's been lighten up a bit, maybe more is needed...don't know yet...

Évidemment, ce matin je n'ai pu m'empêcher de retravaillé quelque peu le tableau des derniers jours....lorsqu'on est, comment dire obsédé, quoique je n'aime pas la connotation qu'on peut attacher à ce mot...disons fortement inspiré au point de perdre de vue, que j'ai d'autres tableaux et projets qui attendent, comme un pastel par exemple, donc la dernière version de ce tableau qui reste accroché à mon chevalet...

This morning, right after coffee, in fact even before coffee, I started working again on this painting, the one I've been showing for the last two days...close to an obsession I guess, maybe  not but enough to forget that there is some other project I want to continue or begin, like a new pastel maybe....but before the latest version of this painting...

Et la je vous préviens, une rareté, un pastel, un paysage, paysage industriel....photo prise lors d'un voyage voilà très longtemps...la photo est d'ailleurs quelque peu abîmé, taché, et en plus sous exposé..pas d'appareils numériques dans ce temps là, et probablement que c'était une photo prise en me disant que j'en ferais un tableau ou un dessin, donc plus de 25 ans plus tard, je me décide...mais avant pourquoi pas les photos, l'originale et celle après traitement dans photoshop, les couleurs m'importent peu, plus l'ambiance que je voulais obtenir...quant aux couleurs, ce sera selon l'inspiration du moment avec le pastel....

And something quite unusual, for me, a pastel, and more than that a landscape, industrial landscape....a photo taken long time ago, Hamburg port, the photograph is old and not very good, underexpose, no numeric camera at that time, and the scanned print has been damaged, a bit dirty...probably I took this telling myself that I did not care about quality, it would be either a painting, or a drawing, so more than 25 years later here it is...but before, maybe I should show the original photograph and the modified one in photoshop, did not care much about the colors, more the mood, and colors anyhow come pretty well by themselves when I'm working with pastels, feeling of the moment will decide...

20 hrs....et travaillé 'on and off'' le tableau d'hier, le modèle avec sa jupe damier, ses bottes et gants blancs, qui ne sait toujours pas si elle la ramasse la valise, elle doit commencer à avoir mal au dos, la pauvre, moi et bien je n'ai pu me décider à la finir, je sais que je ne la finirai pas au cours de cette période...ou à passer à une autre...alors je continue à peindre et à m'amuser...c'est cela qui compte je crois...:)

20 hrs, worked 'on and off'' yesterday painting, seems that this model with her checkered skirt, white boots and gloves, has kind of kept my attention, I know I will not finish it this session or in the next few days, but don't feel like yet moving to something else or new....maybe later or tomorrow, I guess I'm having too much fun painting her...that's a pretty good reason for me....:)

kept working, still is this morning, I really like the way the folds are coming, and a few other things as well....I kind of rediscover why I was using regular linseed oil, its flowing  capacity, good when you need blending and softness, I just have to find the right mix of regular llindseed and stand oil, damar and rectified turpentine...a small detail...:)
Encore en train de la retravailler ce matin, je m'amuse encore avec les plis et coloris, redécouvre pourquoi au début j'utilisais l'huile de lin 'ordinaire', rien n'égale sa fluidité...faut seulement que je trouve le bon dosage avec l'huile de lin purifiée, la térébenthine rectifié et le vernis damar...un détail....:)

Ah toujours la question....qui revient inlassablement, comme mes absences, les Olympiques entres autres comme cause et quelques autres....:) donc depuis quelques jours je travaille la toile des deux Cindys....toujours à l'acrylique, j'ai résisté.....mais la tentation était, est encore forte de la finir à l'huile, comme aussi à me demander si je vais définir plus ou moins les visages, aussi comme je le mentionnais, je ne connais pas le contexte de la photo, mais sur les deux poses, la belle Cindy semble soit effrayé, en colère ou les deux, ou tout simplement dans une pose un peu, mais bien peu provocante...donc beaucoup de questions, non répondues encore, comme je le disais encore à l'acrylique, pour le moment j'ai décidé de privilégier le mouvement, et de laisser paraître plus les textures, de toutes manières, probablement dû à ma façon de travailler l'acrylique, j'ai souvent de la difficulté à obtenir des textures satiné ou soyeuses, enfin avec peu de textures que j'ai besoin pour un tableau plus 'portrait' que un qui se concentre plus sur les poses et plus 'libres en interprétation'...donc pour le moment on continue avec l'acrylique. Donc voici les photos, de ou des Cindy Crawford et des deux dernières versions, enfin celles des derniers jours,il y aura une autre version, j'ai déjà  mis quelques heures de plus sur cette toile, donc la prochaine version plus tard ce soir ou probablement plus demain ou mardi...

The same old dilemma....almost as frequent as my unexplained silences these last few weeks....:))), (yes I'm laughing lauder in english...:)), so the last few days while not blogging,  of course the Olympics are a reason, but only for the last two days....for the others days...all kind of reasons....but at least for the last 3 or 4 days  I was painting...and watching the games....at least that's a minimum to do...working on this acrylic painting, and still an acrylic....of Cindy Crawford, or I shall say the two Cindy's, both seems either scared, furious, or upset or maybe all of these answers...or simply a fashion shot a bit show off, so while I'd been asking myself if I should finish it with oils, and get a softer, more portrait like interpretation, or keep going with acrylics, but the problem with this one painting is that I have a lot of difficulties to obtain a smooth finish, and at the same time I do like that textured, where all strokes are apparent, but not to good for a portrait where I would like some softness, and also I'd been moving between showing more details in her faces...or going mainly for a feeling of the poses...more like portrait versus figure drawings like...the debate is still going on...so here the original photo, and the last two versions of this painting, there is another one on the way, it has changed, I will post it probably tomorrow or later this week...so for now it is still an acrylic painting and going for a more textured and 'figure like' rendering of the photo...will see in the end if it stays that way...
